On 6 July 2023, the Data Protection Guarantor (GPDP) ordered Google to remove a URL from its search results (Provision 9926884). An individual complained about his name and photo being used on a fake website, indicating a connection to organised crime. Google had already agreed to remove the URL, but it remained visible. The individual stated that this was an improper use of personal data, defamatory, and violated the principles of data minimisation, accuracy, and storage limitation. The GPDP based on the merits of the case, ordered Google to remove the URL from search results.
