Japan: Opened consultation on Amendment of Enforcement Rules of the Telecommunications Business Act

On 13 September 2023, the Japan Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications published the proposed amendments of the Enforcement Rules of the Telecommunications Business Act regarding technical framework conditions for accident reporting systems and opened a public consultation until 12 October 2023. In particular, the amended Enforcement Rules would make alterations to incident reporting rules including, for example, the categorisation of accidents significantly affecting user interests as severe accidents to prevent their recurrence and mitigate the risk of such incidents.
