Introduced Privacy Amendment Bill (No. 292-1) including data protection regulation

On 5 September 2023, the New Zealand Parliament introduced the Privacy Amendment Bill, which aims to make changes to the Privacy Act. The Privacy Amendment Bill focuses on enhancing transparency regarding the collection and use of personal information. The Bill would require agencies personal data processors to inform individuals about the indirect collection of personal data related to them. The Bill also adds provisions on how agencies are required to respond to certain data subject right requests.
