Argentina: Adopted Program for transparency and protection of personal data in the use of Artificial Intelligence

On 30 August 2023, the Argentine Data Protection Authority adopted the "Program for transparency and protection of personal data in the use of Artificial Intelligence". The Program primarily focuses on the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and safeguarding citizens' rights concerning personal data protection within this context. It is structured into three main components. The first focuses on establishing an AI observatory to identify AI field leaders, monitor global AI regulatory developments, and generate AI-related statistics and reports. The second component emphasizes governance and social participation through the creation of a multidisciplinary advisory council of AI experts and fostering collaborative regulatory strategies for AI. The third element focuses on strengthening transparency and personal data protection in AI, entailing the creation of best practice guides for public and private entities, offering training and technical assistance in AI transparency and data protection, conducting awareness campaigns, and promoting media and information literacy initiatives.
