Indonesia: Published National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) for DPOs

On 23 June 2023, Indonesia's Ministry of Labor issued the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) for information and communication, specifically focusing on personal data protection expertise as per Decision No. 103/2023. This aligns with Article 53(1) of the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), ensuring that data protection officers (DPOs) meet defined qualifications. The SKKNI outlines the requisite competencies of Indonesian DPOs. The framework is intended for educational, recruitment and training purposes, among others.
