BIS issues new data privacy standards

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) issues new data privacy standards (IS 17428). The standards act as a certification for organisations and are divided into two parts: (i) the binding IS Requirements (Engineering and Management Requirements) which set forth the basic requirements to assure data privacy within businesses in India, (ii) the non-binding IS Guidelines that offer guidance on how to implement the aforementioned requirements.
