Germany: Bundeskartellamt approves Knuspr(Rohlik group)'s acquisition of Bringmeister

On 10 August 2023, the German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt) approved the acquisition of Bringmeister by Knuspr (Rohlik group). The Rohlik group and the Bringmeister group are merging their operations in the German online food retail sector. The Bundeskartellamt stated that the merger is not expected to raise competition concerns and that several companies operate in the sector, allowing for competitive prices. Finally, the Bundeskartellamt stated that it would continue to assess whether the online food retail sector should be considered part of the food retail market or a separate market.
