Description

Adopted BSI Position Paper on Secured Mobile Applications

On 23 June 2023, the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) published its position paper on Secured Mobile Applications. In order to establish secure digital identities, the BSI promotes an embedded SIM (eSIM) in the framework of the Secured Mobile Applications (SAM) initiative. The eSIM, which is independent of the chosen telecommunication contract, would allow for tamper-resistant storage of sensitive information such as authentication credentials and encryption keys. The new requirements for mobile devices would contribute to the protection of personal information since as key data would not be stored in the general memory of the device.
