Description

Opened consultation on UK Product Safety Review

On 2 August 2023, the UK Government opened a consultation on its proposals to modernise product safety laws until 24 October 2023. In particular, the proposals aim to enhance consumer safety when shopping online. In addition, the proposals seek to better regulate innovations like internet-connected devices including smartwatches and speakers, and artificial intelligence. Finally, the proposals aim to reduce business costs by exploring how digital options can be used to reduce burdens and allow product information to be easily and regularly updated, including through the introduction of voluntary e-labelling.
