Indonesia: Implemented Law 19/2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions including content moderation authority governance

On 25 November 2016, Law 19/2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions was implemented. The Law strengthens the role of the governance in content moderation governance by establishing a responsibility for the removal of prohibited content. To this end, the government can instruct providers to block access to prohibited content or directly undertake such blocking itself.
