European Union: Announced EU Commission investigation into Microsoft regarding anticompetitive practices related to Teams

Description

Announced EU Commission investigation into Microsoft regarding anticompetitive practices related to Teams

On 27 July 2023, the European Commission announced the opening of an investigation into Microsoft over the alleged abuse of its dominant position in the market. The practice in question is the bundling of the communication software Teams to Microsoft's productivity software Office 365. The Commission will assess whether Microsoft abuses its market position in productivity software and obstructs other communication software providers from competing, which would violate Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
