Consultation closed on TRAI Consultation Paper on Regulating Converged Digital Technologies and Services

On 3 April 2023, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) closed the public consultation on the Consultation Paper on Regulating Converged Digital Technologies and Services - Enabling Convergence of Carriage of Broadcasting and Telecommunication services for counter comments. The consultation deadline was postponed several times. The consultation paper notes that, as a result of the advance of digital markets, there has been a convergence of devices, services, and networks in the media and telecommunications markets. The consultation paper explores the challenges posed by converging technologies and seeks input from stakeholders on potential changes needed in legal, administrative, and licensing frameworks to address them.
