Description

Closed consultation on draft Recommendations for Mobile Applications

On 8 October 2023, the French National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL) closed a consultation on the Recommendations for mobile applications and their ecosystem. The Recommendations are aimed at five categories of mobile applications including mobile application publishers, mobile application developers, software development kit providers, operating system vendors, and app store providers. The Recommendations aim to specify the obligations of every category concerning their data processing activities and determine whether they qualify as a controller, co-controller, sub-contractor, or do not fall under any of these classifications under the General Data Protection Regulation. In addition, the Recommendations seek to improve the management of user consent collection and promote best practices concerning data privacy.
