Italy: Issued ruling in Italian data protection authority enforcement case on revenge porn 9891047 (Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, Snapchat)

On 13 April 2023, the Italian Garante issued its ruling concerning a case of non consensual distribution of explicit material ("revenge porn"). The Garante requires Facebook Italy, Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Telegram FZ LLC and Snap Intrenational II Limited to immediately implement actions to stop the diffusion of the material on their platforms and further requires the companies to store the material for evidentiary purposes.
