Italy: Issued ruling in Italian data protection authority enforcement case on revenge porn 9896396 (Facebook, Instagram, Telegram)

On 13 April 2023, the Italian Garante issued its ruling concerning a case of non consensual distribution of explicit material ("revenge porn"). The Garante requires Facebook Italy, Meta Platforms Ireland Limited and Telegram FZ-LLC to immediately implement actions to stop the diffusion of the material on their platforms and further requires the companies to store the material for evidentiary purposes.
