Italy: Issued ruling in Italian data protection authority enforcement case on revenge porn 9895501 (Facebook, YouTube, Telegram, BeReal, Discord)

On 13 April 2023, the Italian Garante issued its ruling concerning a case of non consensual distribution of explicit material ("revenge porn"). The Garante requires Facebook Italy, Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Google LLC, Telegram FZ-LLC, Bereal SAS and Discord to immediately implement actions to stop the diffusion of the material on their platforms and further requires the companies to store the material for evidentiary purposes.
