Description

Closed consultation on Ofcom recommendation regarding classification of regulated platforms under the Online Safety Bill

On 12 September 2023, Ofcom closed the public consultation on its recommendations to the UK Government regarding classifications of regulated platforms under the Online Safety Bill. The Online Safety Bill will require online platforms such as social media, messaging apps, and search engines to identify potential user threats and implement measures to protect users against online harm, including illicit and harmful content. During its consultation, Ofcom gathered information regarding the thresholds that should be established to determine the platforms that must implement additional requirements, such as publishing transparency reports.
