On 25 June 2023, the Age-Appropriate Design Code Act (SB 196) was rejected after failing to pass before the 82nd Oregon Legislative Session adjourned. The Act would have applied to entities that provide online services or products directed towards children. These entities would have been required to conduct a data protection impact assessment. Covered entities would have also been required to publish privacy policies on their website and enable children or their parents to exercise their privacy rights. Covered entities would have been prohibited from profiling children or using the personal information of children in a way that harms the child's health.
