United States of America: Rejected Nebraska Uniform Personal Data Protection Act (LB 1188)

On 20 April 2022, the "Uniform Personal Data Protection Act" (LB 1188) was rejected after failing to pass before the legislature session adjourned. The Act introduced the data subject right to request access or correction of personal data and established notification requirements for data controllers. Moreover, the Act detailed the types of data processing that require consent, forbidden data processing practices and the purposes for which data controllers are authorised to disclose personal data to third parties.
