Ireland: Opened consultation on the designation of video-sharing platform services as a category under the Broadcasting Act 2009

On 28 June 2023, the Irish Commission for regulating broadcasters and online media, and supporting media development (Coimisiún na Meán) opened a consultation until 26 July 2023 on the proposed designation of video-sharing platform services (VSPS) as a category of relevant online services under the Broadcasting Act 2009 as amended. The consultation document provides background information and legislative context about the proposal. In particular, the Commission seeks comments on its proposal to discharge its obligation to designate VSPS as a category of relevant online services, and on the draft Notice of VSPS Category Designation.
