Adopted Amendment to the Code of Administrative Offenses increasing Roskomnadzor content blocking powers (Federal Law 625-FZ)

On 25 December 2022, the Federal Council adopted Federal Law 625-FZ on Amendments to the Code on Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. The Law requires telecommunications operators to verify the accuracy of information about users and subscribers. Furthermore, the Law gives the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) the power to restrict access to content and information that is determined to be in violation of the Law without notifying or interacting with the platform, media, television and radio broadcasting owner.
