Saudi Arabia: Adopted Telecommunications and Information Technology Law including content moderation regulation

On 31 May 2022, the Telecommunications and Information Technology Law was adopted by the Council of Ministers. The law contains content moderation regulations. According to Article 24, the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) will, in collaboration with other authorities, restrict specific online services on gateways and block or constrain online content. Finally, the CITC will set the filtering conditions and requirements for content moderation.
