Canada: Published CSA warning regarding usage of fake regulatory and dispute resolution organisations to appear legitimate by some crypto websites

Description

Published CSA warning regarding usage of fake regulatory and dispute resolution organisations to appear legitimate by some crypto websites

On 20 June 2023, the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) warned Canadians to exercise caution regarding crypto trading service providers who falsely claim to be authorized or affiliated with non-existent regulatory or dispute resolution organisations. These providers attempt to appear legitimate by asserting certification from fictitious authorities or membership in non-existent dispute resolution organisations. The CSA published a list of fake regulatory or dispute resolution organisations and advised investors to consult the list of crypto trading platforms that are registered with the CSA.
