Amended Louisiana Virtual Currency Licencing Rules (SB 185)

On 13 June 2023, the Governor of Louisiana signed an amendment to Louisiana's virtual currency licencing rules (SB 185), which modifies regulations and licensing requirements for virtual currency businesses and takes immediate effect. The Act introduces new definitions and requires applicants to provide a business plan, audited financial statements, and insurance certificates. It also adds licensing conditions, and background checks, and extends the notification period to 60 days.
