Germany: Filed Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media public lawsuit against xHamster over alleged non-compliance with age verification obligations

On 3 March 2023, the Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media filed a public lawsuit against xHamster over alleged non-compliance with age verification obligations. The Commission stated that the platform failed to implement technical measures to ensure that children and young people do not access the content displayed on the platforms, which was rated as appropriate only for users over 18 years old. The Commission is requesting approval of an order to telecommunication providers to block access to the platform in Germany.
