Rejected Telstra-TPG Telecom merger

On 21 December 2022, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) issued its decision not to authorise the proposed regional mobile network arrangements between Telstra, the largest mobile network operator in Australia, and TPG Telecom after determining that the transaction would potentially entrench Telstra’s dominant position in the mobile market by gaining access to most of TPG’s spectrum in regional and urban fringe areas.
