Opened consultation regarding the designation of telecommunications operators subject to the provisions of Article 27-3 of the Telecommunications Business Act

On 1 June 2023, the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) opened a consultation on the draft notification for the designation of telecommunications operators under Article 27-3 of the Telecommunications Business Act until 3 July 2023. In particular, Article 27-3 of the Telecommunications Business Act prohibits the complete separation of communication charges and terminal charges in the mobile market as well as excessive tapping. Based on the results of the consultation, a report will be submitted for the consideration of the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications.
