On 31 March 2023, Australia's eSafety Commissioner closed the second public consultation on the draft online safety codes submitted by associations representing the online industry. The draft online safety codes would apply to eight industry sectors, including social media services, websites, search engines, app stores, internet service providers, device manufacturers, hosting services, and services such as email, messaging, gaming and dating services. The submitted draft codes contain measures to reduce the availability of seriously harmful online content, such as child sexual abuse and pro-terrorist material.
