Adopted Protection of Personal Information Bill (B9-2009) including data transfer restrictions

On 20 August 2013, the Protection of Personal Information Bill (B9-2009) was adopted after being passed by both Houses of the National Assembly. The Bill establishes the conditions through which personal information about a data subject may be transferred to a third party in a foreign country. Such conditions include compliance with the law, the data subject's consent, and the performance of a contract between the data subject and the responsible party or in the interest of the data subject.
