Description

Issued Data Protection Authority ruling in investigation into Boligportal regarding failure to proof compliance with GDPR ordering Boligportal to take measures

On 20 April 2023, the Danish Data Protection Authority issued its ruling in the case against the house rental platform Boligportal. After having received complaints about Boligportal's data processing with the help of Facebook Business tools, which collect information about any person visiting the website, the Authority started an investigation. The Authority stated that it was unable to decide whether personal data was transferred to the US in the context of Boligportal's use of Facebook Business tools. Boligportal failed to prove compliance with the GDPR. As a consequence, the Authority ordered Boligportal to ensure compliance with the GDPR and to distinguish clearly between the roles and responsibilities of the platform and the Business tool.
