South Africa: Published Regulations relating to the Protection of Personal Information (2018)

On 13 December 2018, the “Regulations relating to the Protection of Personal Information” were published in the Government Gazette. The Regulations outline the procedure for objecting to the processing of personal information, the process to request the correction and deletion of personal information, the application by private or public bodies for issuing a code of conduct, the procedure to request consent from the data subject to process their personal information, and the system for settlement of complaints.
