On 14 August 2019, a Presidential Proclamation was published in the Government Gazette establishing the National Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) mandated with leading South Africa’s digital transformation to achieve digital inclusion that must result in economic growth through creating an enabling policy and regulatory environment.
