Implemented Competition Act including competition authority governance

On 30 October 1998, the South African Competition Act entered into force. The Act establishes a Competition Commission in charge of implementing measures to increase market transparency, investigating alleged infringements to the Act, initiating and conducting market inquiries, and authorising or prohibiting mergers, among others. The Act also establishes a Competition Tribunal.
