Issued ruling in the PIPC investigation into T Map Mobility compliance with Personal Information Protection Act

On 24 May 2023, the Korean Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) issued its ruling in the investigation into T Map Mobility's compliance with Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). The PIPC stated that T Map Mobility violated the security measures requirements of PIPA by failing to implement safety measures to safeguard the data stored, and due to a source code setting error, the personal information of 4'000 people was leaked. Further, T Map Mobility failed to comply with notification and reporting requirements in case of leakage of personal information. The PIPC imposed a KRW 57.62 million fine.
