Published Roskomnadzor list of messaging service providers prohibited from internationally transferring or sharing information

On 5 May 2023, the Russian Federal Service for the Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor) published a list of foreign messaging service providers banned from internationally transferring or sharing any information concerning the personal data of Russian citizens, data on money transfers, information needed to make online purchases, and financial information on accounts and deposits of Russian citizens. The order concerns Viber, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Threema, Whatsapp, WeChat, Telegram, Discord, and Snapchat.
