China: Announced Cyberspace Administration of China investigation into DouYu platform compliance with content moderation regulations

On 8 May 2023, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) announced the opening of an investigation into the Douyu platform. The CAC alleges that Douyu failed to comply with content moderation regulations noting that on the platform, inappropriate content, including pornography and indecency, is displayed. The CAC will conduct centralised rectification supervision in collaboration with Hubei Provincial Internet Information Office.
