On 11 May 2023, Canada's Privacy Commissioner (OPC) issued its recommendations on the Digital Charter Implementation Act of 2022 (Bill C-27). The OPC has made 15 recommendations to expand the proposed Act, such as recognising privacy as a fundamental right, protecting children's privacy, and expanding the list of violations for financial penalties. Furthermore, the OPC recommended incorporating privacy by design requirements in the Act and developing a framework for de-identifying and anonymising data.
