China: Adopted first batch of compliant entities in Beijing - Measures for Security Assessment of Data Exports

On 22 February 2023, the Beijing Internet Information Office announced that two companies - Beijing Friendship Hospital and Air China - were the first data export projects in the country to be approved as compliant under the CAC Measures for Security Assessment Data Exports. The successful companies were among a pool of 48 applicants, including prominent companies like Amazon, BMW, Samsung, GlaxoSmithKline, and Xiaomi. According to the Beijing Office, other companies such as Hyundai Motor and Minsheng Bank have been accepted by the State Internet Information Office, and the application materials of several units, including Sina Weibo and Daimler, are under review by the Beijing Internet Information Office.
