Adopted Bill aimed at strengthening parental control over the means of access to the internet including data protection measures

On 24 February 2022, the Bill aimed at strengthening parental control over the means of access to the internet was adopted by the Senate of France. The Senate adopted a version of the Bill, expanding the requirements to ensure the protection of personal data. The Bill specifies that manufacturers or providers of devices are prohibited from using the personal data of minors collected for the device activation for commercial purposes, including direct marketing, profiling and targeted advertising. The implementation date of the requirement will be established through a Government Decree.
