Announced CADE investigation into Google for alleged abuse of market power regarding advertising related to "fake news" law

On 2 May 2023, the Brasilian Office of the Superintendent-General of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) opened an investigation into Google for alleged abuse of market power regarding advertising related to the Brazilian Law on Freedom, Responsibility and Transparency on the Internet (Bill 2630/20). CADE stated that it received several complaints alleging that Google misused its dominant position in the market in the advertising campaign against Bill 2630/20.
