Introduced Preventing Deepfakes of Intimate Images Act (HR.3106)

On 5 May 2023, the Preventing Deepfakes of Intimate Images Act (HR.3106) was introduced to the House Floor. The aim of the Act is to protect privacy online and regulate AI-generated digitally manipulated intimate content, also known as deepfakes. Specifically, the Act would make the non-consensual creation and sharing of deepfakes online into a criminal offense. Further, the Act would clarify that consent to image creation does not equal consent to sharing. The Act would also establish private rights of actions for victims and ensure their anonymity in civil cases.
