Germany: German Federal Court strengthens restrictions on content moderation

The German Federal Court has decided that Facebook's Terms and Conditions regarding the deletion of user posts and account blocking for violations of the communication standards set forth in the Terms and Conditions are invalid.This is due to the fact, that Facebook did not inform its users of the removal of uploaded content or of the blocking of users' accounts, hence denying users the opportunity to respond to the action. The Court rules that users affected by the invalid Terms and Conditions, have the right to ask for activation of the deleted contribution, whereas a renewed removal or blocking of the contribution is prohibited.
