On 18 April 2023, China’s Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP) issued the “Opinions on Strengthening the Cyber Governance Work of Procuratorate Organs in the New Era”. The Opinions highlight the importance of strengthening comprehensive cyberspace governance through coordinated procuratorial supervision over criminal, civil, and administrative procedures. Furthermore, the Opinions state that all procuratorial organs should participate in adopting and revising cyberspace legislation. The SPP highlights maintaining cybersecurity, punishing specifically online crimes, such as gambling and drug trafficking, providing judicial protection around the use of key digital technology, and ensuring the protection of minors priority issues.
