European Union: Issued EU-Korea Joint Statement on cross-border data protection cooperation

On 11 April 2023, the European Commissioner for Justice and the Chair of the Korean Personal Information Protection Commission issued a joint statement regarding their meeting to review the partnership between both parties on privacy and personal data flows, including the EU’s adequacy decision of 2021. Both sides agreed to explore further cooperation on privacy and data flows and to further develop the framework for EU-Korea data flows.
