Introduced Online Privacy Act of 2023 (HR 2701) including data protection regulation

On 19 April 2023, the Online Privacy Act of 2023 (HR 2701) was introduced in the House of Representatives of the United States. The Act reintroduces the provisions outlined in the HR 6027 of 2021, which failed to pass before the Congress 117th adjourned. In particular, the Act would give individuals the right to access, correct or request the deletion of their data. Furthermore, the Act would establish data minimisation obligations, require entities to collect the data that would be necessary for providing the services and obtain user consent for transmitting data to a third party.
