Issued Attorney-General order banning TikTok on government devices

On 4 April 2023, the Attorney-General (AG) of Australia adopted an order banning the use of TikTok on government devices. The AG stated that, based on the Protective Security Policy Framework, it has instructed the Secretary of the Attorney-General’s Department to publish a binding direction to Government departments and agencies prohibiting the installation and use of the TikTok application on their devices. The order will be implemented “as soon as practicable”.
