Introduced Advertising Middlemen Endangering Rigorous Internet Competition Accountability (AMERICA) Act in US Senate

On 30 March 2023, the Advertising Middlemen Endangering Rigorous Internet Competition Accountability (AMERICA) Act (S.1073) was introduced in the US Senate. The Act would prohibit companies with annual digital advertising revenue of more than $20 billion from owning more than one component of the ecosystem for digital advertising, such as sell-side platforms, buy-side platforms, or advertising space. Additionally, medium-sized and larger digital advertising firms with more than $5 billion in annual revenue from digital advertising would be required to adhere to several commitments, including duties and transparency requirements towards customers.
