On 22 June 2021, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) opened an investigation into Google for alleged anti-competitive conduct in the smart TV market. The investigation was initiated after two informants filed information. Google is alleged to have forced device manufacturers to pre-install all Google apps, prohibited them from using Android forks as well forcing manufacturers to sign very restrictive contracts.
