European Union: Announced Commission approval of Google's acquisition of Photomath

On 28 March 2023, the European Commission approved Google's acquisition of Photomath following an investigation into the effects that would have on the competition in the market. Google provides online search, app store services and applications for online homework and study, and Photomath offers an online application for online homework and study that allows the users to scan and solve maths problems. The Commission found that the acquisition would not reduce competition or create barriers for entities entering the online homework and study help application and search service markets.
