Announced investigation into Google for alleged abuse of dominance related to the Google Play Store

On 4 May 2022, the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) opened up an investigation into Google for allegedly abusing its dominance related to the Google Play Store. Specifically, Google is alleged to have abused its dominance in the app store market by giving preferential treatment to its own apps and store. App providers allegedly can only use Google's own payment system including a mandatory commission fee of 15% that comes with every purchase, which poses a potential violation of competition law.
